According to the statement made by the DEV-İŞ press office, a collective labour agreement have been signed between Devrimci Genel İş and Mez-Koop Ltd and will cover the years 2016-2017. In his speech at the signing ceremony, Devrimci Genel-İş Union President Ömer Naşit stated that the union has been organized in MEZ-KOOP for 25 years and that they have crowned the 25th year with the new contract, as well as protecting the rights of the employees with the renewed contract, the percentage of social rights  The renewed contract has provided a 9 percent increase in social rights.

Stating that the union will always continue to do its best to protect and improve the welfare, rights and living standards of the employees, Naşit said, “Unionized life, employees; “It means having a productive, peaceful and secure working environment. Therefore, I would like to emphasize once again that the obstacles to the organization in the private sector should be removed and collective labour agreement should be adopted on sectoral basis.”

Stating that as a result of the ‘neo-liberal policies’ implemented in the country, the cooperative system and the cooperatives are under intense pressure, Naşit said, “The fact that Famagusta Tradesmen and Craftsmen Cooperative Ltd. today serves in 4 branches with a strong and reliable structure in which the situation is making us happy. While thanking everyone who contributed to the renewal of this collective labour agreement, we emphasize that the cooperative system , which is  the oldest form of organization and solidarity in our country, should be supported and expanded ”.
